ABORTION - CHOICE HAS TO WIN... (ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED DECEMBER 2010)

I thought I understood the abortion issue. Aborting babies, in effect killing them, didn't seem like a good idea. Neither did not giving people choice over there own bodies or bringing babies into the world that the mothers didn't want, seem like a good idea.

I have become more knowledgeable where our medical dollars are spent. It seems we spend by far the largest percentage of our medical dollars on people 70 and older.
Why would we make such an effort to keep people who are not likely to live much longer alive and yet kill people that may have a hundred years to live?

A society that doesn't protect people on both ends of the scale is still a bit primitive. I'm rethinking my position on abortion but I'm pretty sure I'm Pro-Choice.  I would like to hear your thoughts. Stay tuned...

  2. Here is where the logic of this thinking has a serious fault.

It is claimed "bringing babies into the world that the mothers didn't want."  It is assumed that women and men know what causes babies.  Therefore the option of "Choice" take place before the act of sex which has as a consequence pregnancy. Conception is as close to creation as humans are capable of. The possible creation of a human being is not something that should be taken lightly. It is a known FACT that many women who have had an abortion suffer life long remorse and anguish. Of course many don't. But this is a mere result of our cultures increasing reluctance to accept individual responsibility for their actions. Taking a life is wrong. There is no argument in defense of this. Only feeble attempts at rationalization.

  4. i believe you are pro-choice because you have bought into the Republican dogma. There is no shortage of babies in the world. China and India together have billions of people which they can't even feed. Africa has millions of starving children as well. Central America, South America, Asia, Europe, too many babies. In the Middle East they are teaching babies to be terrorist and trying to blow Americans up. Most of the babies in the US are born to unwed, unemployed mothers living on government subsidiaries, food stamps, Section 8, disability. As a nation, we can't even provide proper health insurance for our citizens. There is no shortage of babies in the world. Buy you are Republican, of course you believe this...
